I love summertime get-togethers, especially when the weather is 75 and there isn’t a cloud in the sky. I could spend all night chatting away on the deck and listening to Summertime by New Kids on the Block on repeat. Last night we had a great party at the house—I’m happy to say that it was a success (and one of my first times cooking for over 20 people by myself!) Per request—I made the same chicken skewers…I promise I’ll switch it up, but I did receive the compliment “the tastiest kabobs I’ve ever had” (so what that it was from an 8th grade boy..I’ll still take it). For appetizers I decided to do an easy dip, roasted carrots & cumin with feta, that tastes way more complicated than it is and one of my moms staple appetizers, crostinis with gorgonzola, toasted walnuts and honey. I’m not a gorgonzola fan myself, but the honey on top of the warm cheese proves to be a great mix, these would also be great with just goat cheese.
For dessert I made my friend’s moms recipe for chocolate chip cookies, which are a fav of mine because the recipe is a little salty. I’ve always been on of those people that can never end the cycle of eating sweet and salty together. We also picked up a cake from Party Favors in Coolidge Corner (http://www.partyfavorsbrookline.com/), cake was amazingly delicious and beautiful.
